CPSG senior NCO garners top honors

Master Sgt. Rich Saldana, Superintendent of the Cryptologic Systems Group’s Mission Support Directorate, has been named the Electronic Systems Center’s Communications and Information Senior Noncommissioned Officer of the Year.

The award recognizes DAF military members for sustained superior performance while providing communications and information services and support to Air Force and/or DoD missions and operations.

Sergeant Saldana was responsible for instituting Group-wide Information management policies and procedures, and skillfully managed the placement, training, and career progression for 6 personnel. Lauded as a technical expert, he was able to quickly identify on-the-job training shortfalls for which he quickly implemented training plans and corrective actions.

As administrator of the Group’s Publication Management program, the sergeant led the effort to digitalize 40 Operating Instructions, which completely revolutionized the processes and reduced review time from two months to two weeks.

Sergeant Saldana also managed nearly 400 administrative actions for over 143 tri-service military, contractor and civilian employees, and was directly responsible for his division’s flawless 100 percent on-time rate.

The 22–year Air Force veteran has been assigned to CPSG since July 2004, and enjoys surfing, softball and fishing.
