Members of Electronic Systems Center and
the Military Affairs Council of the North Suburban Chamber of
Commerce celebrated Flag Day June 14 with a trip to Boston’s
Symphony Hall to hear a performance of American standards by the
Boston Pops.
Three hundred people from Hanscom and local industry attended MAC
Night at the Pops, an annual tradition for more than 20 years.
Daniel Rodriguez, a noted singer who is a former New York City
police officer, was guest artist with the Pops, and Bruce Hangen
served as conductor.
The evening began with a reception at the Minuteman Club, followed
by a bus trip to Symphony Hall for the Pops concert. Much of ESC
leadership attended, including Deputy for Support Brig. Gen David
Eichhorn and his wife, Anita, as well as Operations Support Systems
Wing Director Mr. Frank Weber and his wife, Barbara, and 66th Air
Base Wing Commander Col. Tim Ceteras and his wife, Linda. ESC
Commander Lt. Gen. Chuck Johnson was TDY, but his wife Marilee,
attended Night at the Pops.
“This was really a great evening and a great way to celebrate Flag
Day,” said Bill Flanagan, chairman of the MAC’s program committee.
“The Pops were superb, as usual, but Daniel Rodriguez really stole
the show, bringing the audience to their feet on several occasions.”
Once again, the Military Affairs Council provided all its guests with
small American flags, which were proudly waved by all during “God
Bless America” and “America the Beautiful,” as well as during the
Pops traditional encore, “Stars and Stripes Forever.”
The next MAC event is a holiday shopping trip to Boston Nov. 17,
followed by Dinner at the Top of The Hub Restaurant.
“Mark your calendars for that date,” Mr. Flanagan said. “This has
been a well-liked event that we are bringing back by popular demand.
More details will be provided as we get closer, but if you need
information in the meantime, contact the chamber at (781) 933-3499." |
